One more week...

Veteran's Day

We had a fun and busy day yesterday. Here are some highlights:

  • Took the day off from work and school
  • Went up to Gilbert for the first time in about 8 months. We told Ethan we were going to Nana's house and he says, "But that's too far!". Apparently we have told him that a few times. We really need to get out more!
  • Went to the temple
  • The boys got to go to a parade with Nana
  • Ate some yummy hamburgers and some leftover Halloween candy
  • Saw some buffalo. Why is some random family in Gilbert raising buffalo? Ethan named all three of them. One is named Yucky Tongue Nose. I'll leave out the details.
  • Visited with our friends, the Mitchells and let them feed us, again! Took 4 boxes of girl's clothes and gave them 1 box of boy clothes. We made out like bandits!
  • The boys both fell asleep on the way home, so bedtime was so easy.
  • Zak rushed to get to his basketball game on time, while I sat down, watched TV, and sorted through our loot. Katie, I really owe you!

I think I like the idea of a holiday in the middle of the week!

Trick or Treat...or not

Our neighborhood is a great one for trick-or-treating. There are lots of houses that go all out with the decorations which makes it really fun. There is even one that puts on a haunted house in their garage every year, which apparently is even too scary for some adults (Carrie). This is the second year we have had friends and family come join us to trick-or-treat around our neighborhood, and this is the second year I have had to miss out on the fun because one little man doesn't like the idea of costumes or trick-or-treating or anything to do with Halloween!

Here is Ethan. This guy LOVES Halloween. He talks about it all year, and he was so excited when it was finally time to go trick-or-treat. He wanted to be a football player this year, and since we had everything already, that was easy!

Colby wanted to be Thomas the Train. He was so excited whenever we talked about it, but when it came down to actually putting the costume on, he was not so happy. This is in front of our house, before we even started, and he was already crying.

Then here he is, begging me to take him back inside. How can I resist those eyes?

I thought we could at least have fun handing out candy together, but he was afraid of the first group of kids that came by, so he didn't want to have anything to do with that either. He ended up watching a movie in the back room while I gave out the candy by myself!

Maybe next year...

Happy Halloween (c. 1982)

Happy Halloween from Nate, Christian, and little Zaky, about 25 years ago! (And yes, those are underwear over their pants.)

Doesn't Colby look just like his dad did? Except for the very long hair and big ears!

We are so ready for a girl

The boys wanted to help me find all the "girly" toys we have so that we could move them into Sister's room (as they have started calling the guest room). Here is what we came up with. She is going to have so much fun!
