Keeping up with the cousins

My sister recently posted this on her blog. Her kids like to make "boats" where every toy they own has to be on the couch or bed or whatever. I laughed at how big of a mess they could make. My kids are pretty good at making messes, but they usually don't have to pull out EVERYTHING at once. That is, until today's project....

It started as a dinosaur's house. According to Ethan, "The little dinosaur was scared of the mean dinosaur, so he needed a house to keep him safe. The mean dinosaur kept trying to get him through the cracks, so I had to make the house bigger, bigger, BIGGER. And Colby helped, but not as much as me"

They managed to get everything out of the closet, including the shelves. Then they moved on to other things--like my diaper bag, and shoes, and the toy basket from the family room. Somewhere beneath all of this is one safe and happy little dinosaur.

I told the boys it looked great, but now they needed to clean up.

They both decided we need to wait until Daddy gets home to see it. They are so sure Zak is going to be proud of them and all their hard work.

WALL-E

We went to see this guy this weekend. My kids LOVE all the Pixar movies, so I thought this one would become one of the favorites, too.
Colby was so excited to watch it. He and Ethan talked about it for days, but when we finally got through all the previews and the animated short movie before the feature, I looked down and he was sound asleep! He slept through the whole thing!
Ethan liked the movie, but he didn't really understand the storyline. I think this one was not as geared toward kids as the other Pixar movies have been. It was cute though. And the boys get so excited everytime they even see a picture of WALL-E.

Ah, summer. It has been fun to be able to spend more time just playing this summer, instead of having to run from one place to another. We have been spending lots of time making forts, playing legos, and reading books. Ethan has been wanting to do homework, so I found him a few little workbooks for him to practice his letters and numbers. Of course whenever he starts working on them, Colby wants to do it too. I found him his own little coloring book so he gets to spend "homework time" coloring.

Copper or Wool

Zak and I celebrated our 7th anniversary yesterday. I found this and thought it was pretty funny.
