What happened?

So Ethan is usually the one begging to play in the water, while Colby, although he loves to play outside, usually doesn't really want to get wet. Yesterday I told the boys we were going to play in the water, and Colby jumped right up and was so excited. Ethan said he didn't want to...he wanted to keep coloring. So that is just what he did. Colby had a good time in the wading pool though. He was very entertained by dumping water out of his cup.

The latest...

Well, we started out this blog with the best of intentions...and once again we are slackers! I keep telling myself that I will wait until I have more cute pictures to post, but then I never pull out my camara to take them, so...no photos this time.
Things have been going well around here. It is getting hotter and hotter so we can no longer just send the boys into the backyard to play. We better get them involved in some kind of summer program or we are all going to go crazy!
Ethan has been looking forward to his birthday party for months--and he still has to wait another 6 weeks or so. He wants a ninja turtle party. I'm kind of stumped as to what to do at a ninja turtle party, but hopefully we can come up with something fun!
I just got released from my calling as a Sunday School teacher, which I kind of had mixed feelings about, and was called as the Visiting Teaching Coordinator, which I am not sure how I feel about yet! It sounds like a lot of work, but it will be good to get to know more of the sisters in the ward. Zak is still stuck as the Sunday School President, and he is glad that he will be able to hand off Colby to me during that hour now so that he will get to focus more on his calling. The countdown is on--only 10 more weeks until Colby goes into nursery!

The Big Blue--Newport Beach, CA

We just took a trip to California a couple weeks ago. It was so nice to get away and be able to relax on the beach! Here is Ethan when he saw the ocean for the first time. His excitement was so fun to watch. He loved the water, the sand, the sunset, the waves, the birds...everything. He could not get enough of it.

Zak with the boys. Zak spent so much time at this same beach when he was a kid that he could not wait to take our kids.

The water was freezing, but it was still so fun to put our feet in.

This little pool was a little more Colby's size. He was kind of intimidated by the ocean, but he played in his little puddle for hours!

All tuckered out. Colby fell asleep watching the waves and took a little nap on the beach.

Ethan loved the water. We could not believe how tough he was because it was cold!

This is one of my favorite shots of Colby. His face is all sandy and he's showing off his cheesy grin. I love it!

LegoLand, CA

Ethan loved this place! Colby--not so much because he spent pretty much the whole time in the stroller, but he did get to go on one ride and he loved watching all the people.

It was our first time at a theme park with our kids. It was a lot of fun to introduce them to roller coasters and to watch them take it all in.

Ethan's Shiner

Ethan had a run in with the silverware drawer. Really--he ran into it. He hit it at full speed and fell back. Aparently the drawer won. This is the aftermath! Too bad we didn't have a more exciting story to go with it!
